USW Short Courses: Building Better Business Cases
All change initiatives, whether large or small, have to be justified especially when they involve spending public money. In all sectors, there are always more spending proposals than funding available. Every successful initiative begins by demonstrating its value, continues by showing this value is on track to be delivered and finishes by revealing the value it produced. The heart of this is the business case.
This session covers the key concepts around project and programme business cases. It introduces the five-case mode, in use around the world, developed by the Welsh Government and UK Treasury. It touches on key content and the steps involved in building a business case. It references how PRINCE2 and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) address business cases.
