Putting green procurement at the centre of public services | How Lithuania did it
Did you know that Wales and Lithuania share several historical, cultural and socio-economic similarities, including the recognition they both give to the importance of green public procurement (GPP).
In 2020, only 5% of the public procurement spending by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania set criteria that favoured environmentally friendly products and services. By December 2023, uptake of green public procurement across Lithuanian public institutions had increased to an impressive 94% by value, and 93% by total procedures.
To hear more about this turn around, on Thursday 27 June at 1pm – 2pm (UK time) for the next ‘Cydrannu’ knowledge sharing webinar, we were joined by Kęstutis Kazulis, Principal Advisor at the Public Procurement Office of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania; and Karolis Granickas, Head of Europe at the Open Contracting Partnership.
In the video, you’ll hear about the first-hand experiences, lessons learned, and the practical approaches taken to drive a significant increase in green public procurement. There’ll also be an audience Q&A session at the end with Kęstutis and Karolis.
